Mastery Reflection

As Digital Marketing Fundamental course comes to an end, I look back and reflect on the goals I set for myself with this course. The goals were to review marketing material using “The Fundamentals of Marketing” as a resource, set a solid foundation for the digital aspect of marketing using course material and determine which method of marketing will be most beneficial for the business I chose, using the process of elimination.

I am 100% on track with my goals for this course. The review was highly beneficial going forward with the digital aspect of marketing and I determined social media marketing and content marketing would be the best approaches for my company.

This course covered a lot of material that was somewhat overwhelming but extremely helpful. I really enjoyed the Lynda videos. They were extremely thorough and easy to follow along.  The videos gave websites that will be helpful when starting to monitor websites analytics. That is where I struggled most prior to this class. I knew what to monitor, but how do I start was the question. Google Analytics seems to be the most helpful and user-friendly site to navigate through.

I plan to use Google Analytics to monitor all activity on websites in my radar. This website is the biggest take-away from this course. The breakdown of starting a website, the foundations of analytics, search engine optimization, and social media, video, email, content, mobile and influencer marketing was also extremely helpful (Batesole, 2018). I will apply this knowledge to my own business and to clients marketing campaigns.

IP2: My best friend is a published author!

About 5 years ago, Julie called me. We small talked about five minutes. Her energy was off, I could tell something was wrong. She started to cry. “It’s my lungs, Anissa. I have a lung disease,” she cried. I remained strong for her, tried to say some encouraging words. The phone call ended on a high note, but I could not help but to feel scared for my friend. Three years later, Julie underwent surgery for a double-lung transplant. She was terrified. Julie shared how she may never be able to teach her daughter how to ride a bike or go on a hike. With God’s grace, Julie fully recovered. During her recovery, she wrote “The Gift.” It is a beautiful children’s book that was inspired by Julie’s personal recovery journey (CISION PRWeb, 2019). Personally, I am inspired by Julie. It took such strength, courage and discipline to overcome. Julie has been a gift to my life since I was 14 years old. I would love to help her market “The Gift.” Also, I hope someone else is inspired by her story and this book. You can find it on Amazon. Link below!

LinkedIn

The Air Force required Airmen separating from the military to set up a LinkedIn account. They held a separation briefing and required us to wear professional attire to take a profile picture. Since retiring, I have made minor changes to my profile and still feel very underwhelmed by the page. I am struggling with professionalism and personality. Is there away to liven up the page?

My Feedly

For my Feedly resources, I chose a mix of Marketing and Entrepreneurial publications with some social media influence. Some of these sources I am familiar with and have used them as resources during under grad. I hope these sources will be beneficial towards my life’s task.

Inspirational Post

Depth and Beauty.

I came across this video yesterday on my Instagram Feed. The first word caught my attention: sexism. Although I have been a fan of Miss USA title holder, Cheslie Kryst, it was refreshing to see her tackle sexism in the office. Being a self-proclaimed feminist, I was inspired how Cheslie articulated her story of sexism and how she continues to combat sexism (NOW THIS, 2019). It’s a great way to use her platform to educated others as well as empower them.
