This month’s course was Strategic Internet Public Relations. It has been a very interesting and eventful month. On top of the worldwide crisis of the coronavirus, I had some personal issues as well. The goals of this course were to learn how to resolves issues professionally, learn how to effectively provide feedback to customers with negative and positive reviews and learn how to be professionally resilient when dealing with company setbacks. It has become helpful to stay motivated, drive, strong and celebrate all wins. That has allowed me to stay resilient when setbacks occur. It also opens my eyes to how to be proactive instead of reactive to issues. I believe the whole world is learning that right now. It has become very coincidental that we have this course during a real-world crisis. It has also been interesting on how professionals are responding and reacting to the coronavirus. Some brands I totally admire and others I question, but not judge. I am keeping a mental note ln how established businesses are handling public relations.
As for my case study company, Soko Glam, most issues stem from packaging issues with environmentalists, tainted products or a discrimination case. Discrimination cases are not as common as the other issues. Knowing other cases that have happened with similar companies, gives Soko Glam the head start to know, what to avoid, how to be a forward thinker and develop quick recovery plans.
Nonetheless, I learned quite a lot in this course and I’m grateful. I am excited for the next courses!
